Synovex® S Steer Growth and Finishing Implants

Expand All
  • Each implant of eight pellets contains oestradiol benzoate 20 mg, progesterone 200 mg.

  • Improved weight gain in steers older than 6 weeks of age.

Oestradiol is thought to increase the amount of circulating growth hormone through its action on the hypothalamus and pituitary. It also increases amounts of circulating insulin and thyroxine, leading to an increase in protein synthesis, nitrogen retention, blood glucose and metabolic rate. The result is an increase in muscle tissue. Progesterone is thought to exert some indirect anabolic effect.

Maximum growth rate requires good quality stock with adequate control of parasites and other diseases, and good quality feed through pasture, supplements or lot feeding. Growth response may vary widely for nutritional or other reasons. Improved performance may be noted only when conditions are favourable for good growth.

Indications Promotion of weight gain in steers more than 6 weeks old; for use during the growing or finishing phase.

  • Do not implant in any other site or in any other species of animal than described in the product label. Do not implant this product into HGP free accredited cattle or implant sooner than 70 days after the last implant.

Animals implanted with this product must be individually identified with an approved ear punch mark. Never sacrifice careful, clean technique for speed of implantation.

Implanting cattle under 6 weeks of age is not recommended. Implanting animals intended for breeding is not recommended as they may experience decreased fertility.

To help avoid abscess formation at the site of implant, the surface of the ear should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before implantation.
